the traffic is intolerably bad. Even if you live just outside of town it will take longer than an hour to get anywhere. Two hours if you're going downtown. And it's not that far, you will just be sitting there in traffic not moving the whole time. I lived in LA for years and thought traffic was bad. It's not compared to this. I'm an Albertan but I visited Texas at least 20 times between 1997-2008 for medical reasons. I thought San Antonio was really interesting. I visited Galveston, Corpus Cristi, and Houston once. Houston was strange in terms of layout but later when I was an adult I discovered why: It's one of the few cities on Earth with no zoning laws, which explains why there's just random skyscrapers.
