I agree with you for the most part. I feel different on one thing though, imagination.
I want a picture with my specific thoughts, I'm sure AI would do a great job. Same with AI music.
You can say, "Van Gogh style", or what have you, but then you'll end up with an assembly line style akin to Andy Warhol.
I think true genius in art will still come from human artists. This will hopefully separate the wheat from the chaff.

I have se suspicion that a lot of AI enthusiasts are just people with no ability to picture things in their mind. They can finally put into an image the thing they were thinking about and feel like it is a revolutionary technology.
Look at what a lot of AI spammers create, the image equivalent of a single sentence. For anyone with the ability to imagine these images are severely lacking and offer little value, but for a lot this is the first time they can mimic imagining a photo realistic apple in their heads.

I'm not against AI image generation, but I see it as the invention of the typewriter, having access to it does not give you the ability to create a great novel; AI image generators can create actual art, but only when used by people with the capacity to create art, for everyone else they are just slop machines.

More eloquently put than my take on it. I don't understand how anyone cannot just visualize number one. Just think about it. I'm sure people cannot, but it just blows my mind. It's a fucking apple, you've seen them, or pictures of them, for a long time.

Wrong.
Legit just a no artistic talent sort but with an overactive imagination to the point of synethsesia. The problem is I put hand to paper and all I see is garbage which doesnt even come close to what's in my head. Just garbage over and over and over and over again. Its like there isn't a fundamental mechanism thst allows my hands to create in ways that my brain allows. I was "okay ish" at sculpting but that couldn't address certain ideas and/or complexity that I wanted.

Meanwhile, I can very easily generate logical flow on a prompt and obtain the more esoteric and obscure concepts to a better degree of satisfaction. It takes a little bit more work and some special formatting, but it works and seeing the product removes all stress I've had on the ideas.

You have no idea how psychologically painful it is to have ideas thst you can't put to paper so others might finally see what is going on inside your mind. It's not only frustrating, its maddening.

AI is a panacea from this madness.

Supposing someone can visualize an apple, we can so that part isn't hard. But I would never be able to put it on canvas. My brother probably could, but not me. Does this mean that artists can visualize the apple better than me?
On the opposite side of the coin, I would easily defeat my brother in actually describing the apple. It's color, it's taste, its weight, how it feels even when it's less than ripe.
Is my brother visualizing better by drawing a facsimile of it, or am I better because I can describe it? To a blind person, I win, but to a lot of others I lose.

I suck at drawing but I am surprisingly good at sculpting (takingn into account that I have zero training). Maybe your call is somewhere else.
But I'm not talking about people with too much imagination but not enough artistic ability, I'm talking about people with so little imagination that anything AI poops out seems like a miracle. There is such a thing as people with good technical ability, but no artistic ability, look at the crowd of people who do pencil photo realistic drawings of celebrities, a filter could replace their work.

You can't create art with a computer, only images. Everyone with a brain knows none of this is art. Art museums are all over the country, all over the world and you can see both masterworks and the best communal works up close for free. That's the only way art can be viewed. Anons trade thumbnail jpegs and think that means something. I wouldn't expect you to understand. It's only by mammals for mammals.

It's just CGI. If you make marks by hand you'll know the truth, feel better and it'll render the digital works meaningless. No amount of CGI can compare to something you assemble by hand, a single broad brush stroke makes it all obsolete.

I feel like all the A.I content is liked in a vacuum outside of memes. Shitting out 1000 images and posting on your art account will just have you basically ignored. Artists aren't gonna stop making art because machines can do it faster. There's always something hyper specific people will want from their art like being in control of the compositions. Also there's artists out there with aphantasia that can still draw despite lacking an imagination.

The artists that adopt AI will make some really cool shit. Artists can hyper specialize now, for example, they can focus on the subject and have AI handle the background. The video generation workflows with pose control and start/stop frames are wild. Some day a single artist will be able to make animations that are actually worth watching in a matter of weeks or months.

Shit, 3D printing can sculpt if you tell it what to do. These machines will write your songs and movies, they'll act in your movies with whatever actions you wish, and they'll sculpt the entire set to boot (if a set is actually needed. Which I doubt).
