That would represent a completely new business model for them. The entire point of the current buy now, pay later stuff is that it is not a loan and does not get tracked by the government or banks. You have to qualify for loans, even if the requirements are sometimes fuzzy and the bar is low. A lot of people can't even reach the low bar required to get a 30+% interest credit card. If this crap becomes a legal loan, then most of the people currently using it will stop using it.

They started doing that here a few weeks ago, however paying on time doesn't help build your credit score. So you can only end up affecting your credit score in a bad way and potentially be locked out from buy now pay later stuff. I don't really use these services much, just for the odd thing every once in a while.

They're not official loans, that's why they can offer them to everyone and their dog. It's also why every single one we have any data for is millions of dollars in the hole. They can't get these people to pay it back because they didn't secure any collateral for it because it's not a loan.
