>be engineer
>spent the prime of your youth surrounded by sweaty fellow male nerds(not one woman in sight)
>spent ur senior year wanting to kill yourself watching half ur classmates flunked out and u urself almost flanking out which would mean bascially wasting all the effort u ever put in in grade school and college
>still have to get up extra early, huff fumes in traffic, 6+ days a week(he except 80+ hours while paying 20 percent under market value)
>all beacuse elon thinks its no fair to the technicians who put in 0 effort in imporvinf their lives or learning anything
Im an engineer, I go to the office twice a week, I cant get shit done beacuse all everyone does is make small talk.. I have to go home afterwards and keep working to get shit done for the day..
>>508661300 (OP)He was born a billionaire. To compare yourself to him is laughable
>>508661300 (OP)Same, I should have done healthcare so I could work with hot bitches
>>508661300 (OP)Engineer here as well. I too hate small talk and all of the workplace inefficiency. Can relate, OP. Solidarity o7
>inb4 jeet
There are not many jeets in engineering actually, its only elons comapny and a few other tech companies that got overrun and haven't been profitable since..
Imagine thinking so low of yourself race that u assume anyone with a prestigious job must be an engineer and all whire men are capable of is working food service like u.. stop projecting
>>508661370People think its great to not work with women yet I have dealt with all the shit they claim woman do. I had a woman boss one time and she treated me like royalty
>>508661300 (OP)Claiming to work a gorillion hours per week is simply justification for exploitative labor conditions. As we know Memelon's day mostly consists of getting high and posting

>>508661370>>508661412>>508661433“Engineer” is the nigga who drive the train. You guys is code niggas.
>>508661922I’m and Electrical & Computer Engineer, so I’m more like a Circuit Theory / Signal & Systems fag. I do a lot of programming too tho so u rite
>>508662111No niggas do signals and systems - it be all Altium studio autorouting shit send off to chink fabs bruh. Don’t act like you a bill gates nigga when youse a accountant.
>>508661922>>508662111Any truly proficient engineer worth their salt is able to be thrown at a problem / field they’ve never seen before, read the background material, play around with example problems, and quickly become familiar with said field and master the new concepts. The true value of education is not just the learning aspect, it’s also the meta-learning aspect. I other words, you should learn your field and get good at it, but you should also learn how learn and improve your information acquisition skills as well
>t. Engineer with Asperger’s
>>508662280>it be all Altium studio autoroutingFor designing circuit boards, usually yes. Autorouting solvers struggle with really complex circuit boards tho. It takes a human engineer to do it by hand beyond a certain point of complexity. I mostly work in theory and innovation thoughbeit. There’s no chink fab that can do that (I’ve seen what happens when they try to innovate new technology)
>>508661300 (OP)He says that shit because he sells cars anon, musk promoted the hyper loop only to reduce enthusiasm for rail investments which would damage his car revenue, musk is a lying, deceptive sack of shit and anything he says should be ignored
>>508661300 (OP)>I have to go home afterwards and keep working to get shit done for the daylol working after work is supreme cuck behavior, especially if you are salaried. only times I've done it are during crunch time when I was compensated with a sizeable bonus for doing so.
>>508662374this is correct, although this breed of engineer is basically done for. the type of person who is a true autodidact and can learn about disparate fields and solve novel problems quickly
t. that kind of 30 year old boomer engineer from a program that minted a lot of this type of "engineer". sucks that "engineer" now refers to a jeet with a coding bootcamp cert from mumbai
>>508662280lol an undergrad who specialized at least partially in VLSI is better than the top algos for any non-trivial boards
>>508662374facts
>>508663188We still exist.
t. patents in multiple distinct fields
>>508663388and you see a lot more up and coming? I don't lecture anymore, but, even pre-covid, the new up and coming crop was looking pretty shit overall
>>508663188>>508663388Time to resurrect our species of Renaissance Man engineer, frens. We’ve let things go to shit for too long. I’m working on some stuff atm in an attempt to do exactly that. I’m not at liberty to discuss openly rn but keep your eyes peeled for appropriate signs. It’s time to reclaim our rightful positions in these institutions from the midwits
>>508662637He does prevent his workers from working from home though
>>508663608They are for now. I too have adjacent work at a university. Most of the kids are nepo baby dumbfucks who have no business being there, but there a rare few who have potential. Oddly, many of the research associates are actually quite good. Makes me wonder why they aren’t in industry. I’ll try to farm them for myself on my end once things are up and running properly
>>508663050I dont work when im in the office beacuse people want to keep talking. Worst part is that no one uses to do that before I got there then I kept making small talk to get to know everyone and im one of the only guys not totally autistic and relativly normal so everyone wants to talk to me maybe beacuse it makes them feel more normal. Idk why they are all treating me like I've been there for years, confine in me with deep dark secrets even though I barely know them. One coworker is a furry. A few others are doing drugs and will lose their clearances if they wwre found out.
>>508663741All we have to do is let them fail. I personally am planning on getting deeper into antenna theory beaxuwe I want to open a firm that specializes in fractal antennas. Most people in the RF field think they are snake oil yet they aren't and we have only scratched the surface of how to make them. I plan on utilizing AI once it gets powerful enough. Maybe somehow get it to run simulations and optimizations in HFSS on a home built server farm until it stumbles onto a design that works. I will probably fail and just make my fortune on laundromat or some shit though..
There is nothing wrong with working from home. You can neatly categorize complaints about it as:
people who are jealous, and who can't work from home
managers who aren't very good at managing, particularly those managers who had to wfh during covid unexpectedly
people with a lot of commercial real estate
workaholics for whom being at the office and being the eighty hours guy is their whole self image and self esteem
I've never seen it fall out of that pattern. On the rare occasion they even attempt to make a point about it, they do the thing where they compare a fantasy version of the office to the reality of working from home, so they'll bring up that one time somebody was distracted at home as though nobody has ever been distracted at an office, spent hours planning lunch, talking about Game of Thrones or Trump or gossip or whatever, looking busy, playing solitaire, reading reddit, etc. It's all really kike coded and crabs-in-a-bucket shit.
>>508661300 (OP)You have to get an engineering degree to be an engineer. It's like saying a guy that owns a building that doctors works in is a doctor.
>>508661412>>508661300 (OP)I am an engineer and I will do small talk 8 hours a day in the office, because fuck you, we have automation now and I will not be working my ass off for 8hours/day when management gets paid 10x what I am and only do small talk 90% of their living time while engineers do all the responsible work.
>>508664122Super interesting. I have a buddy from undergrad who went on to study applied Electromagnetism in grad school. Not sure what he’s doing atm tho. Yeah, antenna theory is super cool. I too have been wondering about high throughput antennae which seem like they will be more and more necessary as AI gets integrated into personal devices

>>508664778Engineers should be efficient
>>508664791Yeah I’m familiar with the basic idea, just don’t know the details. Cool as fuck. I hope you make a breakthrough if you pursue it. We’re gonna need them soon
