They would be militia (at best) or spies (at worst), not military.

If you got caught as a prisoner by the Palestinians (or whomever), you would have NO protections as a POW or the Geneva Convention.

Good luck getting home. You'd be much better off just joining the Israeli Army straight up -- at least you have some legal protections.
