In the last 8 hours a low pressure system has formed over the Southern Ocean driving antarctic polar winds north. At least that is what is happening here in the southern parts of Australia. So Tasmania, Victoria, and parts of NSW are getting cold and there is snow in some areas. Where I live it is windy and 4ºC, I have the gas heater on. This isn't exactly strange or unexpected though since it is winter here at the moment. Picrel is the town of Orange, about 3.5 hours drive inland from Sydney.
