It seems that just about everyone these days is working some nonsensical job that doesn't contribute much to society. The modern workplace is like a daycare for an overpopulated people, just something to fill and waste the plebs' time so they don't get any ideas. Whatever happened to the work-free utopia? Why isn't technological innovation giving us more free time and leisure? What do we do about bullshit jobs?

I advise you all to go into office buildings during the day and you'll find that they're almost all empty. No one there, just a bunch of empty offices. What are people doing? I remember one of my first full time jobs was in a warehouse as a “shipper/receiver”. What I was doing was identical to what 2 other guys were doing sitting next to me. They had us on computers keeping tabs on what products came in and went out. One person could have done this job very easily. To a certain degree much of what we were doing could have been automated, but the entire job could have been integrated into someone else’s work. We would take turns doing the occasional 10 seconds of work that popped up every 5 or 10 minutes. The rest of the time we sat there on YouTube and shit. This company hired 3 people to do this.

The problem is that they have a bullshit job, but they never went through the ordeal of needing a real job. I spent close to 20 years working in the wage cage before I became a WFH chad. That kind of experience tempers your expectations and your outlook on the world.

There are times where I wish to leave this "bullshit job" cocoon to make a real business with real employees that make real things that services real customers. But then I remember how much I resent my fellow countrymen and how they don't deserve my labor. So here I will remain.
