Probably nuclear, probably in the southwest. A few reasons for this:
1. Nuclear is logistically a lot easier and they would avoid any potential fuckups like civilian cell phone videos of the Hamas/IRGC sleeper cell shooters getting caught speaking Hebrew or American accented English. Or any of the nagging 9/11 type details that everyone has been talking about for the past 20 years. Also you’d just have to take the Department of Energy’s word on what countries the bombs actually came from.
2. They would want a lot of dead Latinos because that’s the main demographic of young men that would be looking at getting rooked into the army for World War 3.
3. They can implicate everybody on the state department shit list. They can say the Russians gave the Iranians some bombs and the IRGC hired the Mexican cartel to smuggle them into cities in the Southwest.
4. In the southwest you have lots of big cities that are in the middle of the desert (Phoenix, Albuquerque, Las Vegas) so they would have sufficient carnage but limit the economic damage. They wouldn’t have to worry about irradiating the financial center of the country or the whole Acela corridor. Which would probably bring down the whole insurance industry. Phoenix and Vegas are probably done for in the long term anyway when Lake Mead and the Arizona groundwater runs out. If they really want to minimize economic damage they could do it in Tucson and El Paso and say the conspirators got found too early and had to just detonate the first place they could get to.
