There were a series of moral and civic campaigns intended to instill values such as courtesy , frugality with resources such as water and electricity, minimization of waste , the benefits of stable 2 parent families and caring for elders. Those campaigns were very effective on me and I have endeavored to pass them on to my children . Iam very nostalgic and thankful for having the opportunity to have lived there at that time. The last time I got to go back was 10 years ago and it has definitely gotten crowded. Singaporeans say that social cohesiveness has been affected by the influx of mainland Chinese , Subcontinentals, Cosmopolitan expats , the usual suspects.
