Texas does some things well like firearms and some things poorly like sucking off Israel. I think this law is probably unnecessary, but whatever.

Also "cultured meat cells" are mixed into a "plant-based" paste. Don't think it has any equivalence in nutrition to real meat.

Lab meat isn't meat. They grow cancer cells in a sugar slurry and then strain it and mix it with the nasty vegetarian meat substitute. Literally the worst of all things you could eat.

it would be objectively better, more moral, more environmentally sound to have cultured meat. That doesn't mean that what we have now is workable, it just means what it means.

what an absolute shit turd.
Texas ranks last in personal freedoms.
It's wild watching mentally ill degenerates in power just slice and dice everything they say they stand for (small government) just to ensure a small group of people remain enriched and in power.
Fucking losers, one day these people and their financial beneficiaries will be hanged for what they've done. Using elected office for personal gain.
What a truly fucked up country.

Simple logic.
Small bio reactors can convert about 90% of growing medium to protein. In large scale reactors you're looking at about 40% conversion.
It's a process that requires climate controlled clean room environments with stringent sterilization. Tanks require constant circulation, filtration and oxygenation of growing medium. You need to dispose of spent growing medium and the process contaminates easily.
And that's to get a precursor protein slurry that needs to be combined with connective tissue and fats to become something resembling more than 100% lean ground beef.
Versus grazing cattle.
Lab grown meat isn't an eco friendly solution it's a disruptor. It's meant to create a new industry for investors that will eventually be regulated and subsidized favorably to replace livestock.
Locking protein production behind expensive and technical industrial processes creates a favorable economic moat. None of this shit is 'green'. It's meant to fuck you.
