I've seen so many "conservatives" come out the last couple of days claiming this whole episode in Iran was some sort of massive win and we averted a larger scale conflict. What has really happened besides Iran's nuclear program got pushed back a few months?

And this is all assuming that things maintain the way they are which will only be the case for a limited amount of time, a few months to a year at most. Then what?

I feel like we should have waited until Iran did something. Preemptively intercepting their nuclear plan only makes the USA look like shills for a scared, whining Israel.
If the USA let Iran start to make threats after building the nuke facilities, then they could have stepped in to definitively stop further war.
