I've seen so many "conservatives" come out the last couple of days claiming this whole episode in Iran was some sort of massive win and we averted a larger scale conflict. What has really happened besides Iran's nuclear program got pushed back a few months?

The whole mission accomplished bullshit just sounds like copium for what was a genuinely retarded flare up that we had no business getting involved in and were lucky didn't devolve into something worse. And this is all assuming that things maintain the way they are which will only be the case for a limited amount of time, a few months to a year at most. Then what?

I feel like we should have waited until Iran did something. Preemptively intercepting their nuclear plan only makes the USA look like shills for a scared, whining Israel.
If the USA let Iran start to make threats after building the nuke facilities, then they could have stepped in to definitively stop further war.

But now they have only made Iran look like the underdog.
