This is what I don't get. I know some paranoid retards that refuse to buy stocks because "stocks aren't real, what about the apocolypse, your stocks will be worth nothing!"
Meanwhile they literally hide gold in vaults like they'll be able to eat it when the world becomes the walking dead. If you want to avoid stocks because you are afraid of stocks being fake, buy assets like real estate, tools, hoard canned goods, off the grid infrastructure, etc.

In my religion (Christianity), we are required to buy some gold, if we can.

>Buy from me true gold
Sure it's spiritual, but it's literal as well.

actual quote:
>I counsel you to buy from me gold refined by fire, so that you may be rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself and the shame of your nakedness may not be seen, and salve to anoint your eyes, so that you may see.

Not very hard, 1 ounce of Gold was $38.90 in 1970, which is $315 today.

However, Gold today costs $3350 per ounce, so you could say that Boomers had a 10 x advantage on Gold buying. It was 10 x more affordable for them.

Im not one of the millennials to bitch and moan all the time about how good boomers had it.... but yeah.... they had it REALLY good in those days.

A Kilogram of gold is 35 ounces.
An ounce of gold was $20 in 1929.

10 * 35 * 20 = $7000 USD

10 * 35 * 3300 = 1.15 million USD

Mostly correct, Gold has held its value wheras the US Dollar has lost 90% of its value every decade since 1930 due to Jewish Kikel Moneyprinting.

It was illegal to own for ten years though, so there's that.

You had to be a Fugitive in the USA for ten years to store your money in that. Which means you're endorsing crime.

Idk about a house in an apocalypse scenario because you'd just be a constant raiding target. And you'd have no way to enforce ownership of other real estate. Gold at least would make some sense in terms of shiny rock good which would hold some value in an event like that.

I guess it's kind of a hedge between 'financial collapse' and 'full blown prepper paradise'. Because if you're expecting prepper paradise then yeah you just buy canned goods and ammo.

That's what I thought. What are we supposed to do with this knowledge.
Like okay, I get that gold holds value, and fiat currencies' value declines, great. I can't go back in time to buy 10kg of gold.
It wasn't easy for someone to buy 10kg of gold in 1929, and it sure as fuck isn't now.

gold was worth $20.67 per troy oz in 1929
= $664.67 per kg
Investing 6.6k in the S&P 500 assuming an average annual return of about 10% in 1929 would yield today:
A=6,647.70×86,706.47≈
576,161,882
That's 576 MILLION dollars
Today, 10kg of gold is worth about 1.085m dollars

People were not legally allowed to own gold for decades. Imagine being such cucks.

Many people didn't realize it was a good investment until the early 2000s.

Just borrow money from the Jewish bank and never pay it back, they literally don't care that you don't, since they get to print infinite money, it's literally no skin of their back, ever.

What is an average wage though?
That is how economy on gold standard really works. If those numbers are essentially the same, say 1 months wages then nothing really changed.
Though you need to factor in cost of living expenses as well of course.

it seems like a niche scenario where you have enough wealth to make a big chunk of it non-liquid, but also anticipate a crash accurately enough to not just be eating the opportunity cost from not just going into index funds. I guess you could be buying gold passively as like a secondary non-liquid emergency fund over time. But who has the bandwidth for that on top of actually trying to build wealth vs hedging?
