Nobody can answer it on the satanic mouthpieces of the mainstream, the winds were unfavorable, people were calling out BS instead of being le afraid of le aliums. So they ran back to the programs people were more eager to engage with, like wars and pandemics (ready for round 3 in due time?).
The somewhat strong real ET contactee scene, though having vast problems of its own, does throw a wrench in their plans and they have to work around it somehow.

If ETs ever visited earth I doubt they stayed long because to an advanced species humanity are barbaric and primitive and they would either quickly leave earth or exterminate us all before we infect the rest of the galaxy with our kind
