>>508778447 (OP)I did it for a bit. It's not that bad, depending on who you're working with. If you're in a work environment where it's cool to stand up, walk around a little, talk to someone about video games, etc, it's all good.
The only reason places like that devolve into hellscapes is if narcissist managers get involved, and the workers don't have enough self-respect to complain. ""Open"" offices are worse because it's basically just a method of destroying your privacy and increasing surveillance.
The 8 hour work day is retarded, too. A human cannot actually just sit down and grind for 8 hours straight. It's not a reasonable thing to ask. In every job, people chill at least some of the time. When I was in the Army, there was a lot of standing around. When I was in construction, there was a lot of standing around. And when I was in the office, there was a lot of just sitting there, hanging out.
People like to take it easy.
There are some people who really can "work" for eight hours straight, but only because it's recreation to them. It's like giving someone props for playing video games for eight hours. It might be reasonable to expect a worker to fall in love with his job like it's recreation in some fields, but it's totally psychotic to expect an office worker to be gleefully absorbed in boring ass spreadsheets just like it's totally psychotic to expect a construction worker to be happy doing heavy labor in the hot sun.
People just need to feel comfortable taking it easy sometimes, or else any job becomes utter toil.
Every time some faggot brags about working for ridiculous hours a week, they're always including time spent in their car listening to music, shitposting on twitter from their phones, talking about video games in the break room, etc.
People need rest and just not do shit sometimes during the workday. I just wish we could all just admit it out loud instead of all trying to pretend like we're supersoldiers.
