They support Christianity because they think it has the correct moral values and the best philosophy for running society and feel it's a cultural bulwark against foreign influence. You NEVER hear rightwing figures actually logically defending the historical accuracy of the Bible, the divinity of Jesus, or anything relevant to actually establishing the religion as "true". These subjects are completely absent from rightwing dialogue. Not even Jordan Peterson can defend the factual credibility of Christianity's core claims about reality and he doesn't bother trying. His brain completely short circuits whenever anyone tries to hold him down and force him to answer yes or no whether something is actually factual.
So given that rightwingers clearly don't give a flying shit whether Christianity is actually true, why not just keep the moral values and philosophy on their own merit, and just jettison everything else? The supernatural crap, the fake Jewish history, the worship of some dead carpenter, clearly we have just outgrown these things. If we don't do this, our children will just keep discovering that these things are fake and will throw the baby out with the bathwater, namely everything that made western society great. We can't keep basing our values on fiction and we don't need to. If they actually work then that's good enough reason to keep them, they do not need this foundation of mythology and groundless supernatural beliefs.
