I don't know if it's the most rational but it certainly is the most difficult position to pick and defend because then you've got to explain rationally to your entourage why you keep them. It's really fucking exhausting and there's so little amount of people that fall under that umbrella.
While traditional conservative are usually religious to some extent, you've got nothing to shield you from criticism while rabid leftist will try and find cracks completely in their virtual signalling.
Basically you need to impose limits and defend it which usually sounds like "We need to put a stop to immigration before our current culture gets completely eroded and most importantly to keep our standard of living up" and then you'll get a bunch of wasteway leftoids with counter points such as "what culture? rottenfish food and sauna? the immigrants brought us so much more! and isnt it our morally imperative to allow the least fortunate to enjoy what we enjoy?"
Fighting constantly with people who have no roots, own nothing and have no self worth is absolutely tiring. It takes a tremendous amount of conviction and willpower to put your foot down and say "it's enough" and stop argumentating about it as a rational atheist conservative.

Conservatism means that you want to preserve old ways of doing things because they are true and good for all the reasons they have always given, not because you personally can come up with a "rational" argument for them in current year. Left and right originate in the French Revolution, where the Right wanted to preserve the role of the Catholic Church in the state because it had been part of the culture for centuries, and they thought getting rid of it in favor of "rational atheism" would be a bad idea and result in bad outcomes. They were correct. The "rational atheist" state blew up. No one wanted it. It was worse than what it replaced.

If you are "conservative" because you think it is more "rational" than liberalism, then you are just a slightly different flavor of liberal with slightly different internal contradictions than other liberals. You are just as much of a lunatic as they are. The vast majority of people have believed in God from the beginning of time for many excellent reasons that atheists are too arrogant, to ignorant, and too stupid to understand. You are not an atheist because you are more rational than they are. You are a lunatic just like the rest of the liberals, most of whom are atheists because they are more "rational" than you. Being slightly less of a lunatic and making up reasons about why does not make you rational or a conservative, except in the sense of being just another liberal lunatic (which is what 99.999% of "conservatives" are).
