Yeah, elites have sway. Yeah, politicians are often spineless middlemen. Welcome to reality. But acting like nothing anyone does matters and it's all rigged from top to bottom is just a comfy excuse to sit on your arse and pretend you know some secret truth.
Authoritarian states have oligarchs too, except over there you can’t even complain about it without getting disappeared. Here, people still protest, vote out leaders, leak documents, expose scandals. Doesn’t happen by magic, but it’s possible. You don’t get that in a real oligarchy.
If voting didn’t matter, why do corps, banks, and lobbyists spend billions trying to control the outcome? If the game’s fake, they wouldn’t need to play.
And lol @ pretending democracy causes division. Humans are tribal by default. You don’t need elections to create factions, you need humans. The only reason it feels worse now is because everyone’s doomscrolling 24/7 and confusing Twitter spats with WW3.
Also the Yuri Bezmenov meme again? You realise he was a Cold War asset parroting red scare tropes to boomers, right? Quoting that guy unironically in 2025 is like busting out a PowerPoint about satanic panic. Just because he said “ideological subversion” doesn’t mean he was some prophet.
This whole screed is just terminal cynicism dressed up as insight. You’re not exposing the system. You’re coping with the fact that fixing things takes work.
Touch grass, talk to people, do something useful.
