You are arguing for the Muslim financial system known as hawala. You pay a rental fee on the money which is commensurate with your inconvenience and the risk of loss, but unlike interest it's non-compounding, because usury is forbidden in Islam.

It's the compounding that makes interest usurious.before you try arguing that it's inevitable, you could just take the monthly interest payment from a borrower, put them in the stock market or loan that money out again, and enjoy the benefits of compounding that way. Demanding that the borrower compound their interest payments which you then reinvest as they come in is essentially saying you should benefit twice for loaning out the money once.
