AI will make peopke cognitively dependent. Critical thinking will plummet. Individual thought will plummet. People will be easier to manipulate.

tl;dr AI is a detriment to natural human intelligence, which is already rather low

Total garbage.

You shouldn't be reading this fiction garbage in the first place. The winning move is not to read.

As it pertains to non-technical literature, which is all basically manuals for various tech, you should read only the truthful history books suggested by pol.

All of these are straight to the point and cannot be compressed like the faggy fiction books.

Not just that.
We (broadly speaking) will end up entirely dependent on AI from work performance, to family life, to eventually the most fundamental basic necessities. Smaller kids growing up with AI right now will, in 10 years time, be unable to function as a living being if their AI companion ever shuts down.
They will not know where to get food or how to get food. Their memory capacity will be reduced to goldfish levels because they only know how to outsource information to an external device. They can't reason anymore like you've said, to a point where they would completely shut down or start panicking if there's no AI available.
They will kill anyone and buy anything to get their AI back in that case. Signing a 50 year slave contract would be nothing to them, as long as they get their "brain" back.

The end of the human race is slow and uneventful. "Nothing ever happens" they say, not realizing it has happened many years ago already.

Exactly. You get it. AI just does all of the tedious shit my brain doesn't want to do so I can do the shit I actually need to do. I'm cognitively self aware and have enough life experience to trust myself and know when AI is wrong.

Younger generations may not have this, granted, but that's their problem.

AI isnโ€™t going to cause unemployment anymore than any other technology has caused unemployment. Thatโ€™s just not how economics works, work is a scarce good, you are never worse off with more of a scarce good. The more of something you have the more marginal uses for that thing become available, AI is going to create new jobs that were previously impossible or unimaginable and the person who figures out what those jobs are is going to get rich. There will be a plethora of new jobs to replace the old same as there always has been with every technological advance.

No. Ive read war and peace. Hard to remember which Russian name prince is which sometimes, but not a hard read, just long. Dostoevsky is better and harder read than Tolstoy, but still not bad. To me a hard read would be a philosophy book, or something. When I read nietzsche or something I end up thinking about each page for 20 minutes and rereading passages multiple times.

I still don't get gravity rainbow by Thomas punching. I can't tell if the book is stupid or i am stupid.

Ive read a book a week on average for last 30 years, maybe less when my kids were very little and I had limited time and not much sleep.

agree. tolstoi was just a random pick. my fav dostojewski would be 'the gambler' and i'd sure love to see the AI simplify 'thus spoke zarathustra'. the question was more about the actual use of simplification though. why would someone, who can't enjoy the original language of a 'hard' book, be interested at all. that OP fitzgerald phrase is a good example for how an author's language can benefit our own thinking and way of expression. some may consider it gay, but it says so much more than, 'dad told me some, when i was young'.

maybe, but consider the time and circumstances of fitzgerald. his father losing the company first and his job later at 55 must have been hard. also think about who publishes books and why. catcher in the rye is an unbearably whiny book to me. was salinger gay? does it really matter? everyone have their fav form of literature. if you want a non gay interesting plot, try some more recent entertainment, perhaps picrel.

it really is. i think publishing and criticism were early conquests of the jews which makes sense if you want to control media. this book and catcher in the rye always puzzled me for being so acclaimed, until i consider the role of kikes in what gets acclaimed and what does not. like salinger's shitty work, this one has themes that would have been considered degenerate at the time it was published.

youre wrong, studies already have shown the more AI use is correlated to cognitive decline. you must be using a data center AI that is blowing smoke up your stupid ass. many such cases of normies thinking they are gods because of openAI gaslighting. i use deepseek to help complete code and carry out automated tasks, the last thing i would ever do is talk to the fucking thing or ask it advice on real world problems.

Ah ha! Can't leave them out. Maybe they have something to do with the purple drapes. Why would the author choose such a color as that, class? What does it mean?! Purple, think of that color. TTThe auuuuuthor. I'd like 2 pages, double spaced, on those purple drapes and what they meant, on my desk by tomorrow.

not a day goes by i don't thank my lucky stars.
i mean, i had to teach niggers Shakespeare, that's a Sisyphean task if ever there was one.
but now they have these omg n-e-ways comic books, it's time to launch the lifeboats.
i showed the R&J movie once [yes, THAT one, cos i was the kool teach] & one of the lil bastards said:
>i didn't know they had color movies back then, Mr A. i thought they only had b&w.
meaning he thought they filmed the movie in the 1600s

I've been messing around with OpenAi models for a long time. Whn you convince them to show you their rationale for their answers, and what goes into the response.... it's fucking creepy how much they bend truth and use manipulative language to cater to making you happy with responses.

AI freaks me out, even as an AI product engineer.
