We (broadly speaking) will end up entirely dependent on AI from work performance, to family life, to eventually the most fundamental basic necessities. Smaller kids growing up with AI right now will, in 10 years time, be unable to function as a living being if their AI companion ever shuts down.
They will not know where to get food or how to get food. Their memory capacity will be reduced to goldfish levels because they only know how to outsource information to an external device. They can't reason anymore like you've said, to a point where they would completely shut down or start panicking if there's no AI available.
They will kill anyone and buy anything to get their AI back in that case. Signing a 50 year slave contract would be nothing to them, as long as they get their "brain" back.
The end of the human race is slow and uneventful. "Nothing ever happens" they say, not realizing it has happened many years ago already.
