Have you taken an economics class? Certain countries (with economies that matter) gravitate towards specializing in certain things, other things being equal (which they aren't but for fuck's sake this is how it is).

Interlaced 1080, huh?
12 years before it became a common resolution? That's pretty impressive, but interlaced was dogwater. There were no televisions capable of displaying 1080i. And film was... well it was better than video. Which is why there were so few movies ever shot on magnetic tape until a viable digital replacement was developed.
I'd like to see footage from this camera. I bet it's washed out, with white balance all out of whack and ghosting like crazy. I could be wrong though. I'm just betting.

I went to Japan in April for a 2 week vacation and before I left someone told me "Japan has been living in 2005 since 1982" and man that was so true. Things like train stations still only issuing paper tickets for certain trains, people carrying brief cases, etc etc.

They always fuck it up though. Sony would always release a stupid proprietary something or other that would compete directly with the standard at the time. Sony would always lose and never adopt the standard until it was way too late. Basically Japs are fucking greedy as hell. It's why they got nuked in WW2 too. Japs=Greed. You're welcome.

Is that the HD vhs cam? There's some demo vid of a dance routine and it looks great, high quality phosphor trails kek.

Anyway, zoomers don't know that early digital tech was actually very high quality because it had to compete against analog. They don't understand that digital is only popular because it's dirt cheap. 50 MP phone cameras will always be shit because they're made of cheap tiny lenses propped up by retarded jeet programmers and the video gets compressed to a godawful "web friendly" format and reencoded by more Google retards for streaming to be displayed on a 2.5" wide phone screen with oled burn in, beveled corners, a hole in the top, and "night shift" turned on. This is the world they are raised in, then they're amazed at how a $100,000 machine from 1980 outperforms their $1000 toy.

The same entity owns them all. To you (goyim cattle) it looks like these are separate companies owned by different entities, but nothing could be further from the truth. They are just manufactured in different jurisdiction (from your goypoint of view), in reality there are no different jurisdictions. All the judeo-masonic meme republics (there are over 170 of them) are run by the same entity.

I hate goyim cattle like you so much it's unreal.

There still arenโ€™t any non-Asian companies producing or designing CCD imaging chips. And while the basic idea was developed by Bell Labs /TI / Kodak in the 60s and 70s (mostly for defence/ spy satellites), the practical breakthroughs and commercial development (patents) were all wholly Sony, then Ikegama and Panasonic.

Why? Western private industry has given up on a lot of pure R&D research (like Bell Labs, or IBM,etc), because it doesnโ€™t fit with investment capitalism demands for Q over Q returns; short term profiteering trumps long investment. Western universities now research the interesting stuff, mostly with Govnโ€™t funding, maybe with a VC angel once something patentable becomes interesting; Japanese, Chinese, Korean companies are the ones to do something commercial with it and manufacture and scale it up. There just isnโ€™t the western leadership management, C-Suite, sensibility for it. Western companies are all run by MBA Wall Street bean counters now, totally interchangeable, not engineers or scientists who intimately understand their companyโ€™s technology products. Just take a look at Boeing

True. Worst of all. Even worst compared to USA vs China in AI these days.

Look up first Soviet CD player. It was a copy of Japanese player (or philips) and released about 2-4 years later. And also lacked a lot in terms of quality. Only one model was made...

CD never became popular in the USSR. VHS were still a thing until about 2004 I think. We had VHS rental businesses on every corner back in 2002-2004..
