Sicily's not worth it

They are building one actually but its stupid and there is no need. Its deep and unstable so it becomes the most expensive bridge ever because you cant build a center column so the gap has to be the longest ever.

Because we don’t need it and we never did, a bridge connecting the two poorest, most backward and least economically productive regions in this country. On top of that their highways and railways are terrible too. And let’s not forget the insane cost (billions of euros), the fact that it’s right in an earthquake zone and that it’d be the world’s longest single-span suspension bridge (over 3 km).
