I bought it, and got it home. It was completely, 100% unsanitized. Some guy's computer just donated without wiping the drive? He even had his emails on it, etc. Job applications, letters to his ex girlfriend apologizing and trying to get back together.
But the stuff seemed to get darker and darker. Looking at the timestamps, it was apparent he'd been fired and was still looking for work for ~8 months. His applications got more and more desperate. Going from applying to 'good' jobs to clearly just trying to get ANY job.
Weird notes to himself about quitting drinking, writing about his ex girlfriend, being lonely, bad poems.
And then it struck me. This guy killed himself.
As soon as it dawned on me, I felt like I was in possession of a haunted computer. I felt dirty reading how depressing his life had gotten. I formatted the drive and turned it into a HTPC.
