So if WW3 ever actually happens we're fucked right? The second all that production goes from civilian to wartime the "world's factory" becomes the grandest military industrial complex known to man.

The present-day capitalist economy in China is a capitalist economy which for the most part is under the control of the People's Government and which is linked with the state-owned socialist economy in various forms and supervised by the workers. It is not an ordinary but a particular kind of capitalist economy, namely, a state-capitalist economy of a new type. It exists not chiefly to make profits for the capitalists but to meet the needs of the people and the state. True, a share of the profits produced by the workers goes to the capitalists, but that is only a small part, about one quarter, of the total. The remaining three quarters are produced for the workers (in the form of the welfare fund), for the state (in the form of income tax) and for expanding productive capacity (a small part of which produces profits for the capitalists). Therefore, this state-capitalist economy of a new type takes on a socialist character to a very great extent and benefits the workers and the state.

When I used to draw wire i would curse at the fact I had to run Chinese steel. It was so seldom we had to but it likes to fucking snap every 1000 pounds of wire or so so about once an hour. We had to strip out the end of the machine and weld in new wire and the welds on chinese wire didnt like to hold when going through the die.
anything remotely important, by law, has to be smelted in the USA to ensure it doesnt have pots and pans with the handles still attached going into the mix.

No i did dry wire draw. Really cool job. The machine has 10 round blocks that way 100s of pounds in a line. Each block pulls the wire through a die and jt gets smaller each time. Would start with .217 and make wire as thim as .010. Wet draw can go further down to stuff thinner than your hair and then theres medical wire machines that make wire that goes in your brain.
heres a short, its been done the same way sinve the 30s

Nixon did it first by ending the gold standard and opening up to China

The west is ADDICTED to cheap shit and not performing labor. And the price to pay for that will be the west becoming weaker. Itโ€™s the same thing with illegals, Americans love their slave labor. This is a fundamentally sick country and even civilization

t. actually buys materials for a living
fun story time: we once had to buy inconel from the US because the client demanded it, and it was worse quality than the chinese one we usually get that was three times cheaper

tell me about it, my colleague fried his brain on weed and decided to not come into work one day and now I have to do work for two people
>Also we only made wire and wire rope
buying metal wire from China is also funny, I swear out of all the material types it has the most scammers who will sell you the cheapest fucking steel wire instead of whatever you ordered, since they know you won't bother to arrange a 3rd party inspection if you want just a little amount of it
if you don't buy from some chink company you know I swear there's like 50% chance you get scammed buying wire

They have been heavily subsidizing their steel industry for decades, while western politician filth were shutting down our "dirty" industries.
They flooded the market with shit quality steel originally but they are getting better.

It is improving and the Chinese are capable of making high quality steel.

The bigger issue is being able to trust it. Just because they can make it and will sell it to you doesn't mean that you'll get what you ordered at the end of the day. Metal quality isn't the easiest to verify
