The regime has political stability for the time being, increased regime control (or restabilization if its continuation became questionable) would be the only incentive. Would they even be successful today, considering how economically insignificant they are and how maligned they are by other countries, particularly Western-aligned nations? They're already sanctioned to death, it's doubtful they would be welcomed with open arms, and the golden age of reaping benefits of globalization for developing countries has been over for a while. DPRK's existence is only permitted by China as a satellite/buffer state.
