What’s up, /pol/. I wanted to get your guys’ take on beauty and aesthetics in city planning and the competing design philosophies between modernism/contemporary approaches and the traditional walkable city. I know /pol/ likes to keep it trad and The Aesthetic City just dropped a new video on the topic claiming the traditional style is gaining more and more traction, which I personally find to be an exciting development, so wanted to share at get /pol/‘s take. Link below

Sorry you’re old. It’s a good video and exciting to see

I’m not the guy, just a casual enjoyer of his stuff

Humor me for once, would you chuds? We all find the idea interesting, so let’s discuss and try to make it happen

What's the point of having beautiful architecture if it's filled with niggers?

I would consider spacing and depth aka skyline hight because of airflow, light as well.
So not too many tall rowers and they would be strategically placed not to obscure or block.

I would consider use of city area, I like to immagine them like ripples vs blocks, with a beautiful park in the centre of trees water natural looking features, lightness and beautiful.

The center would be the hub if the city, not city could be a ripple circle or half pie if there is water on one side like rivers lakes or else. With water features the center park would be near the water.

I would have the shops, cafres , restaurants, medical centers, offices ect in ripple core layers, in btw layers I would have intense green strips of parks. The buildings would be advanced but look tartarian, tech with opulent soul beauty of rich architecture and quaint town mix look.
Everyone inside would feel cozy and grand, outside would be the same.

The external parts of the city would have supply logistics hubs, waste management and water management, farms. Out of which internally there would be suburbs nature and family himes of comfort and nature.

The supplies wuld run underground, subway type, shops and ect would be supplied via their basement docks or wewrhouses who had surfice docks and drones smart nsvigatir units would disperse supplies.

People can drive, preferably smaller self driving vehicles, their own, ownership is important in my perfect city it fosters love and preservation and participation and freedom, build to last an upgrade fully recycle ect... sustainable the sane way not bat shit idiot commie sustainability advocated today.

I would focus on family happiness, healthy reproduction of community and city which provides space for families as individual units to live in abundance not boxes paired eith access to cores of hubs of community and have festivals and entertainment.

The roads would lead to the core, only smaller vehicles they have smart roads that drain well, heat even removing snow efficiently when necessary, sidewalks would be smart as well, I would also have underground pathways for winter uses roads and walkways, depending on terrain and sizes of cities.

Cities would be broken up into several of these ripples even, and btw I'd have larger highways and connection lines.

No bus lines, no trains, small capsules for transportation would be used city operates underground on roads to move people from one side to the other.

I would avoid making each neighborhood walkable to get stuff... I would make suburbs and with basic access but most stuff I would encourage people to travel to the core or designated areas where also engagment would be provided, like free movies, playgrounds, parks, art, tech... Gathering, eve if people don't talk all like assemblies are crucial for maintaining subconscious Psyche of the people especially with advanced tech and convenience to avoid isolation.

Cities and towns need life, moving life, not just walkable small convenience!

Yes convenience too, but not segregated to a point your neighborhood provides it all, too compartmentalized not sustainable they will turn and destroy it all, no amount of tech and robots will be able to stop it.

the horrible thing is that the theoretician of contemporary traditional architecture and urban design, Leon Krier, passed away on June 17 in Palma de Mallorca.
He was the closest man to be /ourarchitect/ on earth.
RIP , companero.

I’ve been wondering about how to formulate the optimal city design in terms of mental/physical/spiritual health in terms of work, leisure, etc. It’s fundamentally an optimization problem, so would be interesting to explore. Might be worth pitching to the nerds on >>>/sci/ to get their input

Esthetics wise aesthetics from light the focus should be natural!

Acceptable shapes, no boxes.
Mimicking natures goods, instead of concrete looking like concrete make it look like beautiful stone, wood... use wood and make metals blend with soft natural aspects.

When it comes to color depending on what certain areas ar best used for, have some more summery areas near water, shacks of ice cream and cozy foods that have rich nature flower colors, portugal, spain, france, uk tones... denmark ect.

Areas more wintery also nice natural aspects but maybe richer cozy hot cocoa blends and swiss chalet wood elements and accents...

All season areas blend them, look around is is mountains, rivers ect... bring baseline tartarian look and add natural surrounding riches into the external and internal architecture! Make it clean not too tacky but warm and yet useful and light.

All these things matter and convenience and tech should be the underlying seamless factor, we should hear and see nature and the tench should be like the skeleton within the body, useful and important but also not brutal.

Example, smart roads cna look like covestone road snd yet be made where vehicles can drive smoothly through... or whatever would suit the area or environment.
