Almost every single person I've seen who's really, REALLY into AI, is either a midwit who thinks THEY'RE the one who's gonna get rich selling AI generated crap on Etsy, or an insane Roko's Basilisk cultist. Like even if you are losing your time at the very least your are somehow engaging with another human being somewhere else and altering their perception of the world, even if so slightly. There's some value on that, at the very least.
AI-filled websites that simulate human activity, human interactions and human conversations are the epitome of consumption and a waste of energy. No different from talking to a wall.

For stupid people AI seems like some kind of digital God.
For smart people it's a tool with boundless possibilities. For example I was setting up a modded minecraft server and one of the mods was creating a conflict so I just copied and pasted the whoie 65 kilobyte error log to ChatGPT and it was able to work out which mod out of a hundred was the culprit within a minute versus the entire day (or more) it would have taken to work my way through the error log.
Midwits are too smart to be fooled by AI. But too stupid to come up with interesting use cases on the fly.

I have like 3 "AI assistants" on my phone now, collecting data, can't remove them, and I don't use them.
