For sake of the argument, on a 30 minute trip... how much time do you save by going 55 mph instead of the 45 mph limit? ... literally minutes. Especially because you STILL have to slow down on corners, traffic lights, etc.

To save 15 minutes on a 30 minute trip.... you'd have to AVEARGE 90 mph on a 45 mph road. That means your stop speeds should be higher, 110 mph or 120mph, to compensate for the times you need to slow down.

To save 15 minutes you'd basically have to almost die every day. You can just leave 15 minutes earlier by not being a faggot.

I used to white-knuckle my commutes until I did a little a math/experimentation and realized that I was only ever going to be able to get to my destination faster if there was no traffic or stop lights.
Speeding 10-15mph and weaving in and out of lanes to pass cars only ever netted me less than 5 minutes of time over 35 miles (nearly an hour commute) which was not worth it. I just started leaving 5 minutes sooner and have reduced my stress levels tremendously while laughing at seething road-raging retards speeding and getting stuck behind the same traffic at the same lights. I pass slower traffic and yeild to faster, it's not hard to do. Ido hate people who clog up the passing lane because then traffic passes on the right which is incredibly dangerous. I really think a lot less attention needs to be paid to speed, and much more to right-of-way. Speed limits are arbitrary revenue schemes which is why they are sparsely enforced, if everone actually drove the speed limit small towns would lose a lot of their revenue. Right-of-way laws on the other hand are never enforced, punished less severely than speeding, and are much more important in avoiding collisions.

Now for the dumb ones in the back let’s do it with realistic numbers so you can see why it actually is beneficial to go faster. I’m driving from Washington, DC to Miami. The speed limit on I95 is 70 most of the way, so I drive 85 on average. Compared to a dumbass who drives 65 to stay below the limit. It’s a 1058 mile trip. So for the slow driver it takes 16.27 hours and for me it takes 12.45 hours. I get to Miami almost 4 hours earlier and don’t have to stop at a hotel halfway.
