Trusting the science, 90s edition
Remember how they said smoking causes lung cancer? Then most everyone quit due to propaganda and sin taxes. Then lung cancer rates continued going up instead of flattening or going down. Doesn't that mean there's no reason to continue sin taxing tobacco and banning smoking at bars/restaurants now? We now have solid observational evidence that smoking was not the cause as "the science" claimed.

Ever been behind the average tobacco enthusiast in line at a grocery or corner store?
They're gonna waste your time trying to get some super obscure brand that they just know they bought it here last time.

Taxing smokers is a wonderful thing and they should be taxed more.

I guess it depends how you cherry pick
US rates are the same in 2021 as they were in 1980, the two ends of the specturm on the chart here
https://ourworldindata.org/cancer
The lung cancer bar at the top is always 3x longer than the next most prevalent cancer.
There was no clear benefit caused by wrecking the entire tobacco industry, but "the science" demanded it.

Smoking doesn't cause cancer. It really is that simple.

>Smoking and Cancer.
Single atoms of six side neighbor-covalent bond stabilized Uranium 235 exists everywhere in nature, and plants are perfectly fine to stiffen their stems with those bundles of molecules. When you set it on fire and inhale the fumes, the Uranium 235 atom is free to fly around all by itself and then recover its half-living nature since the fire un-binds it. The alpha-beta decay of the Uranium atom self-splits and drops down to Krypton 59, Plutonium 275, Cesium 137 and a dozen others. The fission event creates a burst of gamma, alpha and beta rays that are powerful enough to shoot a high-energy beam of energy that is just strong enough to BTFO a single tooth out of your DNA, just enough to keep the DNA string intact, but not so much that your body can error-correct it. There is a small chance that the modification from this fission event in your lungs can create a cell that behaves selfishly, and grows to the size of a basketball telling your immune system to get wrecked, and now you have cancer.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qe5WT22-AO8

And so yes, the exact mechanism for how smoke causes cancer, is completely known now.

>Smoking doesn't cause cancer. It really is that simple.
The real truth bomb is that it doesn’t even have to. Cancer is one of the most overblown smoking risks of all time, even after the statistical increase due to smoking the incidence rate of cancer is miniscule. The real danger is that nicotine fucking poisons your heart. Heart disease and arterial clogging is how smoking kills people. The focus on cancer is because cancer sounds scary and looks horrifying when you show people with stomas in their fucking throat, you can’t be alarmist about increased incidence of heart disease because most American people are already inflating the odds of that happening with horrendous diet choices.

What the fuck are you talking about? It’s been well-documented that the incidence of cardiovascular disease is higher among nicotine users for a long time. These studies started getting mainstream traction in the late 90s when nicotine patches/gum became available for sale. They saw a resurgence in the late 2010s when vaping became popular. Reminding people that you aren’t saving yourself by specifically avoiding inhaling burning plant matter is always good for a few citations.

Radioactive material falls on the earth from supernova that send material out at fractions of the speed of light and they crash into the earth. Sometimes radioactive atoms can be immobilized and they stop half-living because of the six atomic neighbors. The heat from Fire releases this stabilizing effect, and then you are free to inhale literal radioactive smoke and then say it's fake news that smoking causes cancer.

Radioactive material causes cancer and smoking causes that radioactive material to be in your lungs, and so the suggestion that smoking causes cancer is as plasuble as every step in this sequence.

Also, to be completley clear, the smoking isn't causing the cancer, it's the radioactive decay and proximity to nuclear fission, that increases the probability of cancerous cells.

If you could miracle away all of the Radon, Uranium, Krypton, Cesium 137 atoms out of the tobacco plant leaf, then smoking could be made to not cause cancer, but it's prohibitavely expensive. We're talking individual atoms of radioactive material laid down a billion years ago as soil. Fire and smoke merely create the energetic function that realeases the nuclear-stabilization and thus the beta-decay is free to occur at its natural rate.

This is how Uranium appears in veins under the ground. Processes deep in the earth can amplify or slow the process of the breakdown of unstable elements on the periodic table.

So smoking doesn't cause cancer, the release of radioactive materials into your body and making them free to half-live, is what causes the cancer. The Tar, Soot and imposter neurotransmitters in the plant probably are bad news as well, and they too may be associated with Cancer, since dividing is how tar is mitigated, but that's for the next post don't forget to like and subscribe.

I’m not. I smoke. I just don’t play copium games about how it’s not reducing my life expectancy. I know it is. So is drinking. So is any trip I take to Burger King. I just don’t care that much. I’m not going to deliberately self-destruct, but I enjoy smoking, it makes me feel good, and I’m going to do it. I don’t need to concoct some elaborate conspiracy in my mind about how everyone is lying about it taking years off of my life.

It would be a stupid lie anyway. What the hell kind of lie is that to even tell? What does it accomplish? I pour an endless supply of money into state coffers and corporate pockets to satisfy an addiction, who profits from me kicking that addiction? It’s a drug that doesn’t render me unproductive to society or in the workplace, forces me to spend regularly, and will all likelihood end with me generating a huge pile of revenue for the medical industry. What kind of lie is it to trick me into giving it up?

Just live your life, anon. Your cigarettes are killing you, but you were gonna die anyway. Embrace reality.
