I finished high school when dial up was a thing and cell phones could only text and call. It was fine. It made everyone different because everyone was doing something different in life.
Seems like not having cell phones would make life simpler. You have the internet when you get home. I'd even go so far as to require getting a cell phone requiring an 18+ state issued ID.

Iowa has passed a bill in April that the use of cellphones is banned during class time. I know in either Iowa or Wisconsin there was a school that did a trial of this last school year and the results were great. Hopefully the rest of the country takes note but I have serious doubts that this will work in every school. Probably the more "urban" schools, if you catch my meaning.
