I just don't get it. Other Arab countries hate Israel too but they're smart enough to not pick fights they cannot win.

Iran want Islamic supremacy in the middle east starting with the destruction of Israel. They also want complete authoritarian control by means of violent suppression. Because of this, a very large portion of the country endures poor quality of life, and become open to working for mossad. Every time Iran will get close to building their long-awaited nuke, intelligence will leak, and Iran will once again get their ears clipped by the USA.

Schizos on /pol/ might not like it, but the US will always intervene no matter which party is in charge. Iran will never be able to fully clamp intelligence leaks because it's impossible with so much of the population demotivated and not fearing death. They also cannot build ICBMs like North Korea, so they will never really scare the USA.

Iran's strategy is to do nothing. The US is a power in relative decline and US sanctions become less respected by the month, so time is on Iran's side. Iran doesn't even need to support Hezbollah anymore, because Iran's long range missile force has become an advanced enough deterrent, as the recent conflict demonstrated.

Iran was not building a nuke and probably still isn't. They just want to have the ability to build a nuke in case they need it, hence why they refuse to give up their right to enrichment capability.

The main reason Iran is poor is sanctions, and the main reason Iran is so easily infiltrated is because they are not nearly as authoritarian as they should be. I mean, they haven't even completely banned US-controlled social media.

They have historically been more afraid of their people and terror proxies breaking ranks with them than they are afraid of western powers and Israel.

Their gambit has always been to posture and fund terror in the middle east. Keep things chaotic in order to maintain power. This keeps people and terror proxies in line and keeps the west at bay as they act like a wildcard who might ignite WW3.

This gambit has worked well for decades under presidents who haven't had the spine to call them on their shit.

It has always been their assessment that if Israel attacked them it would give them a rally cry to their people and further cement their hold on power in the region.

They always figured western countries would shy away from joining in.

Jannies and Trannies are really trying to remove good threads that promote actual discurssions about the recent war

Not quite. Sure they want to become the major power in the region, who wouldn't? but they kinda need Israel out there in order to justify their axis of resistance
Their main goal is to make the american regime accept them in the region, and they really see their nuclear program as the key to being accepted by the American establishment. Will it work? Most certainly not, the US cannot be trusted, at least not anymore. But the Iranian elite is quite boomer and tends to see the world in terms o treaties and honor, so they will keep insisting on that point until a new younger elite from the IRGC rises into power

I'm pretty sure their end game is "explode Israel to death" it isn't complicated. If someone showed up with some foreigner who hates you and told them they'll kill you if you don't let them live in your spare bedroom you'd be plotting their death too

>whats their endgame
The same endgame as all others. Survive.
>I just don't get it. Other Arab countries hate Israel too but they're smart enough to not pick fights they cannot win
Uh... Iran didnt "pick a fight". Iran democratically elected a president who nationalised BP's infrastructure and that made the Brits (with the help and funding of the USA/CIA) over throw the government and instate a monarch. This monarch was insanely unpopular, tortured, murdered etc. Then some radical shia grassroots movement overthrew the monarchy and since then Iran has been attacked by the USA/England/Israel countless times. Not to mention the Iraq/Iran war. Iran isnt "picking fights" with anyone.

As to why do they fund and back Shia-militias? To counter American/Wahabi-saudi/Israeli influence in their backyard.

>Iran want Islamic supremacy in the middle east starting with the destruction of Israel.
No they dont. Israel wants and has been successfully working towards local supremacy. Every single one of their neighbors has been toppled, destroyed, regime-changed and straight up bought like Egypt and Jordan.
Not to mention Saudi Arabia is just as ambitious.

You wanna talk about terrorism? Guess who sponsored AQ/ISIS/Boko Haram...

A few days ago, the US finally gave up on the idea of trying to make China comply with US sanctions on Iran

In May, Pakistan's prime minister publicly announced the intention of more than tripling bilateral trade with Iran

Iran and Russia recently ratified a 20 year bilateral strategic partnership agreement, which includes increased cooperation in oil, gas and nuclear power as well as general bilateral trade. Earlier this year, they signed an agreement to improve the railway links between the countries

Etc
