No, the beauty of Europe comes from it's varying ethnic groups with each their own customs, traditions, morals and history. Sure, many of said ethnic groups can be genetically close to each other but there's still enough difference for one to be seperate from the other. Now to a common language... Technically we already have english as an international language, however what I have seen as a result of that is the deterioration of the local languages where many existing words get overwritten by english ones and a lack of new words for new inventions/items etc. In fact much of english "lingo" has been incorporated into most non-english nations for example: bro

Frederick II wanted it decided in the Academy of Berlin in 1784 with countless memoirs treating it. It was won ex-aequo by Rivarol and Schwab to universal agreement that it should be French. Which it was up to the first half of the 20th century in so far as there was any post Latin commonality, but retardo linguistic nationalism came along so it was not that exclusive.
Honestly it being de facto English since 1945 is fine since English is also great. Obviously easier for us.
