Good question. Starting a militia seems like a quite serious endeavor, yet none seem to have any actual plan or strategy. Maybe it's just for the larp? Or ulterior motives?

Just for hunting I have a 7mm Rem Mag for deer, 20 gauge for small game and birds, a 12 gauge for bigger birds like turkey and geese, and splurged on a 300 win mag because I pulled a once in a lifetime moose tag. Right, this isn't Colombia or Sudan, where we're bordered by enemy nations waiting to invade and the government can barely pay it's soldiers. Theoretically an American militia could attack supply lines and logistics but any group actively training for that scenario would probably be caught by the FBI beforehand and certainly afterwards if they actually tried it. Most militias in the US are larpers but they're somewhat realistic about it, they establish rally points and make plans to evacuate their families in case of a natural disaster or societal collapse of some sort. The military training is ostensibly to defend against looters. They practice OPSEC so you don't see this posted online and they don't invite the news to come film their headquarters.

But even then, we actually do get "patriots" going out and doing crazy shit. Just off the top of my head, a group tried seizing federal property in Oregon recently, a few years back a group tried declaring Texas an independent nation and only succeeded in taking control of their neighbor's house, a couple of whackjobs back in the Obama years gunned down some cops in Nevada and declared "The revolution starts now" before seizing a nearby Wal-Mart.
