>Hitler called Himmler "Mein treue Heinrich". He was generally very loyal until he could see there was no way out and tried secret negotiations with the Allies in 1945. Himmler certainly did try to save himself and wasn't willing to die with his Fuhrer. As an aside, it's virtually certain the Brits killed him the day after his capture to avoid him spilling secrets to the Americans that would make the Brits look bad.
>Göring was Hitler's #2 until 1945. He was physically brave and won Pour le Merite in WW1 (the German Medal of Honor equivalent). Interestingly, he had the highest IQ of all the Nuremburg prisoners. But basically he was a gregarious frat boy who was happy to support Hitler when times were good and was a largely incompetent head of the Luftwaffe, constantly making decisions based on ego. Göring certainly tried to save his own skin before Himmler and Hitler stripped him of all offices shortly before his suicide.
>Goebbels proved his loyalty when shit got most real. Offed himself and his entire beautiful Aryan family rather than subject them to a post-Reich world.
