I'm Black Nigerian, and I would say yes, Black Americans have had their own ethnogenesis just like Afrikaners in South Africa, put a Black American in West Africa where they genetically descend from and he will be a total foreigner, put an Afrikaner in the Netherlands where they originally descend from and they'll be a total foreigner too, for inverse reasons. Black Americans are used to big city, urban, and West Africa is mostly rural. Afrikaners are used to big rural expanses of South Africa, and the Netherlands is rural. Another thing is, Africans don't really think of themselves as "black", we identify by our tribe, so this makes Black Americans foreign, they were given the term Black because their tribe was unknown. I identify as black for the purpose of this post, but I'd primarily describe myself as Yoruba/Nigerian rather than black. They do look different too due to European and even Indian admixture, there are "lightskin" Black Americans who are like 60% European and considered Black regardless.
