That was the whole point of the 2008 crisis. A worldwide hold-up. We're living in the consequences of this mess.

From what i can discern from history, alot went wrong between ww1 and 9-11, if not even further back in time.

..... but i think the more recent events of hyper-minimalism as a (lack of) cultural aesthetic, smartphones (the ultimate hyper-minimalist item), social media as an app-method-technology, Eternal September (the common-izing of access to the internet), (government-grade) spyware and spy-program info-gathering capabilities, (and now AI, primitive as it may or may not still be) are big contenders for 'Certainly Not Helping'.

How many delivery fees are being tacked on there? I get a doubleqp and a medium coke once every couple weeks and it comes out to just a hair under $6. And I live in a very expensive part of the country.

Neoliberalism basically was forcing someone fent because they had a headache.
Neoliberalism basically restored gilded age inequality, while destroying all sense of civicism, while promoting narcissism, consumerism, anti-statism and mass migration.
The implosion of the USSR came at the worst time as well, because there was no counter-force to Neoliberalism and it functionally took over the world.
