Sunni Islam used to have a Caliph (successor to Muhammad, like a pope sort of but more of a political leader) until 1922 when the Ottoman Caliphate collapsed after stupidly allying with the Germans in WW1.

The closest successor to the centre of Sunni Islam is the Royal house of Saudi Arabia who control Mecca and Medina. They follow the strict wahabbi sect of Islam. The Saudi Royal Family and Saudi Arabia generally are very pro USA and they will not admit it but they accept Israel. 90% of Muslims in the world are Sunnis.

The centre of Shia Islam (at least twelver Shia Islam) is Iran. Iran used to be ruled by a Shah (king) who was essentially a USA puppet. The 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran changed everything and Iran has been the arch enemy of Israel and the USA ever since.

Saudi and Iran are enemies for economic
and religious reasons.

We consider zakat wajib but apply it to different items that you do and our rates are 2.5% and khumms you just have to read Surah Al-Anfal 8:41 to understand, pretty sure this is a sunni thing too but maybe specific to only war times?
