Chinese have been doing this for years. I don't know why the FBI isn't doing more to address it. I worked LP for a major retailer and one of my last investigations was bringing down an ORC ring that was based out of China. Not only did they steal and resell consumer goods, but after I looked into the group for awhile I found out they were stealing social security numbers and personal details from the dark web for cheap, opening massive lines of credit in boomers names, maxxing out the cards for tens of thousands in some cases. Then going to different stores and returning the merchandise for cash or exchanging them for gift cards which they later sold for cash. Before I left the group I had been investigating got shut down, arrested, indicted and convicted. I think four or five of them are serving ten or fifteen year sentences. Money laundering, identity theft, fencing, there was a lot to it.

And wouldn't you know, another group start showing up doing the same thing ten minutes later. FBI can't keep up, and neither can private organizations. US can't keep up with the Chinese. At all.

You can get as many cards and lines of credit in your name, max all of it out on whatever you want, though I would personally do what Sam recommended and throw the money into investments like crypto or stocks.
