Redpill me on NARRATIVE. What is it? And why are some people so afraid of narratives which they think are false or which they don't like? Is there such a thing as true and false narratives? Can a false narrative be refuted with truth? Or is it a matter of might makes right, whoever is the best at pushing his narrative wins?

>Not so much like drops of water, though water, it is true, can wear holes in the hardest granite; rather, drops of liquid sealing-wax, drops that adhere, incrust, incorporate themselves with what they fall on, till finally the rock is all one scarlet blob.

>'Till at last the child's mind is these suggestions, and the sum of the suggestions is the child's mind. And not the child's mind only. The adult's mind too--all his life long. The mind that judges and desires and decides--made up of these suggestions. But all these suggestions are our suggestions!' The Director almost shouted in his triumph. 'Suggestions from the State.'

I know that it is somewhat PC/reddit tier sometimes but >>>/lit/ seems to be a better place for a discussion like this, if you are serious about this topic. /pol/ threads usually last for about only 30 minutes so the most spergy/autistic hot takes drive a thread, high effort threads like this seems to need more time to slowly develop with quality>quantity.

How does /tg/ care about truth? They are just consumers/escapists. We are talking about reality here, not fantasy. Both /pol/ and /lit/ have a lot of interest in reality/truth.
>>508972996
>political implications of narrative
You can discuss that on /lit/ too. Enough threads about how Platos work and other classics translate to the real world. There are NRx and paleocon threads too sometimes. As long as it it relates to literature/books and not /pol/ tier anti jew sperg rambling you can discuss a lot without getting kicked.
>also movies
Not sure if /tv/ can help, they seem to be very very reddit (to me) but you can always try

Film definitely helps shape worldview, Wyatt's videos seem like he's reaching a lot. I get the feeling that he is seeking the anti-White themes and would be able to find them in almost any film.

I believe Devon Stack''s work is incredibly grounded by comparison.

I will bump now and then write more.

Stories are the most powerful thing in the world. Your reality is just a series of stories. Whoever controls those stories controls your mind.

worthless thread
Also tried on /tv/, worthless.
Not sure what the relevance is with /tg/? Games? Roleplaying games or what? I never tried a roleplaying game. Only time I posted on /tg/ was years ago when I was into chess.
Might try /lit/ but again, I'm not talking about books only or even primarily. It was Wyatt Stagg that got me thinking about this and his stuff is about movies and TV-series, some standup comedy too.

>How does /tg/ care about truth?

Besides the point. All about storytelling structure ... does not matter if it is about fucking dragons or geopolitical realities. Have not been to /lit/ for a while but do not really recall finding much of a thread about actual writing there. Narrative is all about packaging facts (true or not) into a consistent form leaving the consumer of the information with a certain set of likely conclusions (which might be truthful or not). Understanding the techniques here works both ways btw, both for building and dismantling.

In film,

The Intelligence Agencies are 'good' guys trying to save the world.

The wars we fight are noble and just. The soldiers are brave. All of our sacrifices are 'necessary'.

The leaders are pensive and lead lives of dedication and service to the people of the country.

--

Without direct experience to verify these claims, the false-reality is overlaid on the subject's reality. It becomes a belief in absence of any other experience.

More than enough about that on /lit/. You seem to just want to talk about fantasy/tg related topics even if it is off-topic. You are probably autistic/socially retarded.

Well, that implies it's false. Isn't there such a thing as a true narrative? As I wrote in this thread >>508934993 isn't a narrative just a collection of propositions? While we can be conditioned/programmed with any propositions, there are both true and false propositions. I know it's a foreign concept to most people on this board but propositions can be addressed with arguments.

The other poster probably likes traditional games so much that he will even talk about it when it is obviously off-topic and then poorly spin it because "fantasy world have narrative too!".

>>508974899
>for me it's mostly about exploring ideas and provoking thought
Then /lit/ is a better choice imo if you want both escapism and grounded reality. /tg/ is more escapism/hobby related in the end. My advice is to just take the OP you made here and post it on /lit/. See what happens. No need to play a game/invest in the /tg/ culture before you can just talk about political narratives, lol.

good questions

yes of course there are true and false narratives

a false narrative can be refuted with truth usually, unless the truth is hidden to a particular person (you don't always know somebody is lying if you didn't witness the event, for example)

reality reinforces the truth, exposes lies, reflexively. and the laws of divine justice/karma balance things out.
