>>508974467 (OP)kids these days, In 1959, when I was 15, my dad had me dig 1 and 1/2 miles of fence line. Mostly clay and rock. Not level ground. Any way I wanted to do it. All holes 2 feet deep. Then put up a 4 barbed wire strands. But first take down the old fence, pull the posts, roll up the old wire, and clear the fencerow of brush. I did. took me all summer. By the end of the task, I was a professional. Tamped rock into each hole with the dirt. Used a truck rear axle. I broke 3 sets of Hickory and Oak post hole digger handles. He went to town and had
inch and a half steel pipe welded onto the diggers. Couldn't break them though.
I went by and looked at the fence 50 years later. The creosote posts and fence still looked as good 50 years later than it did in 1959. Straight as a string. I can you the shovel is for Gardeners.
Not fence builders. What you use depends entirely on how much fence you have to build. 1000 post holes with a shovel is insane.
I'm 80 years old.
