We all learned the typical story Old Testament -> New Testament

It's fucking wrong. There can't be any connection between Jesus and the jew god,Yahweh.

Complete polar opposites. Yahweh is an evil god (fairytale) and the root of all bad things. There is nothing to learn from the OT besides criminal acts.

The gnostics were probably right. We NEED to reclaim Jesus as the one that came to spread the knowledge to the people,teach good things and free people from evil.

The more you look at it the more it seems that Jesus was probably Greek(without a doubt he was Greek as far as his teachings go,no one without Greek knowledge would be able to teach what he taught,especially insignificant low iq nomads shepherds).

His teachings were highjacked and that is why today we have this irrational connection between a god(Yahweh) that kills children and a book(OT) that teaches probably every disgusting act that there has ever been and then we have Jesus,the fairest and kindest man that has ever walked the earth.

There is nothing to gain from OT

I've been reading through the bible recently. I'm not Christian or anything like that but I wanted to understand the religion, only I'm still on the OT and it's boring as shit. Do I need to read it to understand or can I skip straight to the NT?

The entire historical record, not just from what is called OT scripture but the entire culmination of writing up until the time Christ walked this earth (job 19:25) is prophetic to look forward and testify to the coming of the Creator. Notice I quoted Job, the oldest book that is included in what is considered and called the Old Testament. Without looking for Jesus in the older writings, you will not see him.
You don't really read the Bible without looking for Jesus do you?
I mean, he's God, and the purpose of reading the Bible is to get to know God after all. You wouldn't read someone's blog expecting to find you?

OT is all about obeying God. And God judging sin.

You all love Jesus because He's an awesome Loving Man but He had to die for all your sins. His death rectified the human sin problem with God. That's what the Messiah prophecies were all about.
