the theory I like is that this world (this entire reality) didn't used to be so physical and solid
it was much more like a dream in the distant, distant past. maybe even time didn't quite work so harshly, linearly
so gods and interactions with gods were not just common but seemingly very essential to existence
now almost nobody but christians or the occasional pagan larper gives much of a shit
might also explain why big heavy rocks were seemingly easier to move thousands of years ago - maybe existence literally didn't have the same mass it has now. maybe the pyramid blocks were more like styrofoam to whoever built them
so maybe "the gods" weren't concealed from the average person, and people were deriving intelligence and understanding from the spiritual realms directly - the veil was a lot thinner. the divide between the living and the dead was nothing like it is now.

anyway now we are a materialistic godless bunch trapped in matter and everything sucks

It's all very frustrating, but unless there is an actual conspiracy on the level of the trueman show or similar, chances are we will find out more in the next decades. There were probably one or more global seafaring cultures in ancient times that we forgot about. Probably nothing too crazy, but certainly with technologies we wouldn't assume for that period and maybe even we don't even know about. doenst mean computers and space shit. but maybe some other neat tricks on how to fuck with stones and such.

I just don’t buy the idea that these cultures developed the same symbols and similar mythologies. The americas were meant to be isolated until 1491 yet they have depictions of a civilization bringer travelling on a ship and carrying with him the “bag of civilization”. The same bag we see 10,000 years earlier in stone sculptures at Gobekli tepe. And that’s just one example of these synchronous cultural ideas.
