What straight white Christian men lose is complete control they feel owed. That's why a lot of rightwing language is couched in concepts of birthright, destiny, and "taking it back". Going from having all of the pie to needing to share it comes with a loss that can't be described without making the argument that you shouldn't have to share, you were more deserving and others were less worthy. That's why religion can come into play more easily here; it's great to be able to say "hey, I don't make the rules" and support a system that gives you more power and it enables you to claim a degree of aggrievement.
