yes, but the average scot exists on a diet of deep fried mars bars and whiskey, and consequently dies at age 61 and doesn't cost the health service very much

Or maybe you should just have to pay for what you use. I never use the US Healthcare system, so I should be charged $0.

Yes, now let’s hear from our Canadian and British posters about how great their universal healthcare is. You know, those countries where the service provided has gotten so shitty that they’ve legalized euthanasia to cut down on their health care expenses.

Public health systems only work if they basically deny care for people who are actually sick.
Have all the free checkups you want but if you get cancer or need knee surgery you’re fucked.

you burgers can't call an ambulance because it's too expensive so have to get an uber for a heart attack (caused by your excessive mcdonalds consumption) and then pay $50k for one night at the hospital

>4% of my pay goes to healthcare
>That's £10 a month
>£10 = 4% of £250

Do you potato niggers really only get paid £250 / month or is someone here retarded?
I made $250 in an 8 hour shift?

uk ambulances are parked outside A&E holding a patient that doesn't have room to be offloaded, so the ambulances can't get to people in community and treat quickly preventing an admission - like a granny fallen and can't get up, maybe is ok in 1 hour, but needs to come in after 12 hours on the floor.

While you are right that only applies if you don’t have a job that supplies health insurance. Pretty much every job that is half decent does. I looked into my insurance and the max I can pay in 1 year is 5k. That’s if I have a catastrophic injury. On top of that I would say the US has the best healthcare in the world. Not on price, it’s completely corrupt, but on actual healthcare. There’s no waiting for me, I can get a major surgery in a few weeks.

Insurance is beyond fucked here with everything they do but as long as you work you are fine. My job actually supplies a prepaid card that gets $50 a week added to it to cover any medical expenses ranging from sunscreen to doctors. I don’t like going to the doctors but I’m not actually worried about it. This extends to my wife and children. Pretty much everything the government does they do poorly and I can’t imagine they would knock universal healthcare out the park.

Had a family friend in her mid 60s somehow pull a muscle in her leg. Doctors said it would heal up fine and to just not walk on it much for a couple weeks.
Now she's in a wheel chair and needs surgery and the surgeon denied her care because "a doctor wanted you to do a (routine, preventative) heart examination (ECG) so I can't trust putting you under anesthesia)".

Now she's been in a wheelchair for like 5+ months with no end in sight. Not really sure why it's taking so long to do the heart exam, it's pretty basic stuff

It isn't 5% of the paycheck though. 5% of the income tax. If the income tax is 30% then it is 1.5% of the paycheck.

my healthcare is the highest you can get and is only 3% of my monthly expenses.
meanwhile average european country taxes you over 10% of your yearly wages and they all have failing healthcare systems.
