Cooks don't have to deal with obnoxious, loud rednecks and niggers pissing on the floor and shouting in their face. The kitchen is their kingdom where they are absolute monarchs. Nobody tries fucking with the psycho who has to chop meat up with a butcher knife all day long and knows how to cook the most horrible slop into a 5 star dinner. Fuck with a cook and you'll find yourself cooking inside the pot and being fed to your parents.
I mean you can argue that they'd deserve higher pay just for that, but they trade it with having to deal with less bullshit.
