If you believe God cannot exist then you put that bias into your scientific studies, that's how you get a billions year old earth. If you believe Genesis to be literal and true, then that very same evidence tells a different story. It's a matter of perspective. Scientists have pigeon-holded themselves into believing that God is an impossibility.
