Video game prices have been surprisingly stable, showing no real increase in price since the 80s. That's wage stagnation, vidya prices have gone down compared to real inflation.
But anyone paying for vidya deserves to lose their money. Anyone who doesn't know how to pirate by now is a complete retard. All the good games are 10+years old anyway. There's at least a lifetime's worth of games better than anything released in the last ten years. Why pay more for an inferior product?

I haven't paid full price for a video game since i bought Skies of Arcadia for the Dreamcast from an EB in Queensland circa 2001.

That’s because capitalism is inherently deflationary, that’s what line go up means, an economy that grows at 2% a year is an economy that deflates at 2% a year. In the so called robber baron era prices went down for 30 years. Prices are sticky of course and so going down is the last thing they will do but before that they will improve in quality. That’s what people don’t understand, shrinkflation comes long before inflation, before the prices went up at the store they reduced the amount of food in the bag, used cheaper ingredients, switched to cheaper contractors and laid off workers, inflation is the degradation and destruction of society as a whole and without it will we get back to the good old days when products were hard and functional and high quality.
