Because leftist narrative isn't based on truth or self preservation, they will contradict themselves constantly if they state their ideas - therefore they cannot use rhetoric or arguments to sustain their opinions, they can only shame or ridicule their opposition.

With time, you ought to understand what has come to be the worst kind of individual to proliferate humanity. For a reason, this sort of people have to tell themselves that they are good, but this not being good enough, they must somehow constantly convey the same to others. When meeting them, they will try their best to convince you that they are the least judgemental kind of person, that they hate wars, that they defend all life and so on. For what reason is that they do this? Well, there should be a plethora of motivations: they're insecure, they're oblivious to the real world, they're infantile, they're emasculated... etc. Ultimately, it all comes down to the term you may already have heard: "virtue signaling". To make matters worse, Reddit as a site gives incentive to this behavior with the upvoting and downvoting system plus those other mechanisms such as medals and karma.
