It seems like all the politicians are trying to make all the other politicians happy. But they could just think of it as making all the voters happy and then that would work. Even as far as special interest groups go, they would just need to have foresight that they would develop new special interest groups for new american factories in the future. I want there to be a mechanism by which foresight can be applied to political decisions, and not just have whoever buys politicians dinner and spends it lobbying them wins.
