Friends are forged in places of common purpose, like classrooms, worksites, activity clubs etc, or you just make friends through the friends you already have, whom you should have made in school.

Even before phones, it was not a thing. Get a job, go study, get a hobby. Do something that forces you into co-operating with other people and you have a higher chance of making friends. do people online really think thats how people make friends? by going up to strangers in public. not saying you cant talk to people out but randomly going over to their table to try to become friends seems strange. ive never had someone approach me wanting to be my friend as an adult while out and about. has anybody had such a thing happen to them?
