You probably won't care but in Islam the story goes like this: Satan was a jinn in the company of angels, God created Adam and commanded all of heaven's residents to bow down to him, Satan arrogantly refused claiming he was made of fire, so why bow down to clay?

That he refused to bow to humanity is one 'theory', that he thought he was the greatest shit in the universe is another, that he thought he was God's equal is a third. But for whatever reason he rebelled and the angels warred in heaven. When it was done Michael, the one with the actual flaming sword, defeated Satan and through him and 1/3rd of the angels down to hell. I assume you guys don't believe in Jinn, but I interpret the 1/3rd of angels sent down as Jinn. And though we believe there are angels in hell, they're not considered "fallen".
We believe Jinn are roaming the earth right now, and that they were here before humans even. They're a lot like us, they can be evil or good and they have free will.
